The Hall County Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday night to extend Superintendent Will Schofield's contract through the 2023-2024 school year.
A press release from the school district states Schofield has served as the district's superintendent since 2005. Details of his contract extension will be available at the board's meeting on Jan. 24.
“My family and I consider it an incredible blessing to be part of this community,” Schofield said. “The stability and laser-like-focus of this board and how they support our families as they raise our boys and girls is unparalleled. I thank my God for the opportunity to be able to continue to serve.”
The Hall County School District has constructed three new campuses since Schofield's hire, including Chestnut Mt. Creative School of Inquiry, Lanier College and Career Academy at the Oaks and Cherokee Bluff Middle School, which opens in the fall of 2022.
Schofield also helped create the Ivester Early College in 2016, which offers high school students an opportunity to dual enroll and earn college credit.
The release states Schofield also worked with team members to initiate the district's 10-Year Facility Plan, which was approved by the community through the June 9, 2020, Bond and ESPLOST referendum.
