GAINESVILLE  — A furious fourth quarter rally on the road fell just short for Class 3A ninth-ranked North Hall on Tuesday night in a huge Region 7-3A matchup against East Forsyth.

North Hall fell 65-63 to the Lady Broncos to see its season-high five-game win streak snapped. North Hall also had won three straight in region play.

The Lady Trojans (11-6, 3-4 Region 6-7A) trailed most of the way as East Forsyth (11-3, 5-1 Region 6-7A) led 21-18 after the first quarter and 36-28 at halftime. The Lady Broncos took what looked like an insurmountable 56-41 lead into the final period.

East Forsyth had built its big lead behind Ella Holbrook, who had drained five 3-pointers as part of her 23 points. Alison Hidema poured in 21 points, including five treys of her own.

But North Hall stormed back behind Rylee McCall, who also caught fire from behind the 3-point line. McCall knocked down five 3-pointers as part of 23 points and got the Lady Trojans within two points with 3.9 seconds left. McCall had one last chance to tie the game or win it but her jumper at the buzzer just missed to preserve the win for the Lady Broncos.

Kristina Peach and Amelia Shoemaker both had 12 points for North Hall.
