One person was killed after an accident on Interstate 85 south near mile marker 141 in Jackson County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:10 A.M when a flatbed Freightliner truck carrying granite slabs was traveling south in the right lane of 1-85 when traffic backed up and came to a stop due to construction delays.
The Freightliner truck rear-ended a silver Toyota Camry, which caused both vehicles to slam into the back of a stopped tractor-trailer tanker truck, which was carrying industrial acid.
There was no spill from the tanker truck.
The driver of the Toyota Camry was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner truck was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Hospital in Gainesville for non-life-threatening injuries.
The family of the deceased has not been notified at this time.
