Hall County burn ban lifts Friday

The burn ban put in place each year in Hall County will be lifted Friday, October 1.

With the lifting of the ban comes a new process for acquiring burn permits, according to Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Christie Grice.

"They will actually go online and submit their information, and it is just a better way to track their information, where they're burning in the county," said Grice. "Previously we were not able to track the locations where they were burning, they were just provided a generic number. Now, we'll be able to track that information and push that information through our dispatch system."

Grice said people can apply for permits online here.

Two other permits include land clearing and agricultural burn permits. Those will go through the fire marshal's office.

Grice encouraged anyone who burns after the ban is lifted to use safe practices, including making sure you have water or an extinguisher handy and being aware of the path of the wind.
