MARIETTA — Lakeview Academy swept a pair of crucial matches to keep pace in Region 6-A Private on Tuesday.
The Lady Lions (8-7, 3-3 Region 6-A Private) opened the tri-match with a 2-0 win over King's Ridge as Lucy Park had 8 digs. They then held off host Mt. Bethel 2-1 after the teams split the first two sets.
Addie Gilmer had 8 digs in the first match while Park had 9 digs and Hattie White added 8 digs in the second match for Lakeview.
Celia Wilson-Patino had 16 digs in the two matches.
The Lady Lions will be at back on Wednesday to take on Banks County and Lake Oconee Academy in another tri-match.
NORTH HALL SWEEPS PAIR OF 7-3A MATCHES
North Hall moved into a first-place tie in Region 7-3A with a pair of match wins at East Forsyth High School.
The Lady Trojans rallied from a set down to win a tough thee-set match over Lumpkin County 20-25, 25-21, and 16-14. They followed that with dominating sweep of host East Forsyth, 25-14 and 25-11. The loss for Lumpkin County was its first in region play.
Lexie Martin had 40 assists, 3 aces, and 7 kills, Gavyn Graber had 14 kills and 2 aces, and Sarah Davidson had 3 blocks and 10 kills to lead North Hall. Claire Bowen had 9 kills and 2 blocks, Amelia Shoemaker had 12 kills and 3 aces, Karsyn Savage added 7 kills, and Victoria Cape had 5 assists and 5 digs for the Lady Trojans.
AnnaKate Shoaf had 16 digs, Carly Bowen had 10 digs, Brooklyn Sargent 6 digs, Hannah Goss had 3 kills, and Eve Taylor had 7 digs for North Hall.
North Hall is off until playing host to West Hall and Cherokee Bluff in two more region matches next Tuesday.
