HOMER — Banks County's first-half performance propelled them to a 26-16 win over Lumpkin County at Leopard Stadium on Friday.
It was the Leopards' first win of the season.
The first half output helped hold off a Lumpkin County charge in the second half.
In the first half, Bowen Roberts hit Roman Haynes on a 29-yard pass with 8:20 to go in the opening period. Lumpkin County blocked the extra point leaving the Leopards' lead, 6-0. In the second quarter, Andrew Shockley added another touchdown for the Leopards and Roberts added the two-point try to go up 14-0 with 11:45 left.
Roberts scored with 1:23 left in the opening half, giving the Leopards a 20-0 lead.
In the second half, Lumpkin found some offense -- Cooper Scott hit Will Wood on an 80-yard touchdown pass, a safety and a one-yard Scott run.
