Football: Buford rolls past Myers Park, NC, 44-17

By AccessWDUN Staff

BUFORD — Myers Park, NC had an early lead on Buford but it didn't last for long.

The Wolves (3-0) began their rush to the lead with 3:09 to go in the first quarter. Ashton Daniels's three-yard touchdown run started the Wolves flurry en route to a 44-17 win Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.

Victor Venn and CJ Clinkscales paced the Wolves' rushing attack, combining for 162 yards. The offense ended the night with 295 yards on the ground. Clinkscales led the rushing game with 96 yards on 10 carries. Venn finished with 66 yards on 11 rushes.

Venn pushed the Wolves ahead for good with 9:42 to go in the second quarter on a five-yard touchdown run, 14-7.

Myers Park added a field goal a few minutes later, then Matta answered with a 37-yard field goal with 1:37 left in the first half to push the Wolves ahead, 17-10.

After forcing Myers Park to turn it over, the Wolves found themselves lining up for a field goal try but didn't kick it. Instead, Daniels rolled out and hit Tobi Olawole for a 16-yard touchdown pass. The Wolves failed to convert the two-point try and led at the half, 23-10.

In the second half, Venn added his second score on a one-yard run with 7:26 to go in the third. That was the only points scored of the third quarter as the Wolves led 30-10.

In the fourth, Eli Parks scored on a three-yard run and Kobi Blackwell added a 15-yard scoring run to go up 44-10.
