City of Commerce swears in new Chief of Police

The City of Commerce has a new Chief of Police. Today Ken Harmon was sworn into office.

Chief Harmon has 28 years of experience in Law Enforcement. He has served in Commerce for over 19 years rising in rank to Deputy Chief of Police.

His career has expanded over multiple fields, including Uniform Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, and as a Task Force Officer for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Chief Harmon has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Liberty University. He holds a Master’s of Public Safety Administration Degree from Columbus State University. Chief Harmon is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.

Chief Harmon is an active member of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He is also an active member of the Southern Police Institute Alumni Association.

The announcement made over social made says that Chief Harmon has “endeavored to build quality relationships within the community. An emphasis on building trust and strengthening community relationships between all community members and the Commerce Police Department will be the cornerstone of his administration.”
