The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the deaths of two inmates at the Gwinnett County Jail.
According to a statement from GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles, the deceased inmates have been identified as Ian Longshore, 36, of Stone Mountain and Corey Bryant, 22, of Decatur.
According to a statement sent yesterday from a Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the two were found unconscious on Monday. Longshore was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the GBI, and Bryant was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
The Sheriff's Office requested the GBI the same day.
During a search of the two inmates' cell, GBI agents located a white powdery substance. The substance has been sent to the GBI crime lab for testing.
