JASPER — White County got its first win of the season with a solid defensive performance in a 20-7 win over Pickens on Friday night.
The offense managed just enough behind Silas Mulligan, who had a pair of touchdown runs, and new quarterback Tripp Nix, who connected with Bryson Cronic on a 43-yard TD pass in the second quarter.
The defense, however, came in yielding 41.5 points/game in the early going. They gave up less than 200 yards for the game and allowed just one third quarter touchdown.
The Warriors (1-2) will play host to Habersham Central next week in their final non-region game before opening Region 7-3A play on Sept. 24 at home against Dawson County.
