University of North Georgia welcomes Barnes & Noble College to campus

The University of North Georgia bookstores will now be managed by Barnes & Noble College, the university announced Friday.

The university has three campus bookstores and a bookstore website. The change will happen at the end of September.

"Through this partnership, we will provide students affordable course materials needed for success and ensure that faculty have support throughout the entire process of course material adoption,” said Stephanie Nakamura, interim director of Auxiliary Services at UNG.

The partnership will allow the UNG Bookstores to have the industry’s largest inventory for physical and digital course materials that are all backed by a price-match program. It also includes more convenient options for ordering and receiving materials, including pick-up, curbside, and delivery, as well as events for learning and social engagement.

The spirit section of the campus bookstores will also expand, with more apparel, gifts, accessories, and other items. Merchandise will be in-store and online. Barnes & Noble College partners with licensed sports merchandise companies including Fanatics and Lids, which will also expand the assortment of Nighthawks products.

"We're thrilled to become a part of the UNG campus community and support its mission of 'academic excellence and developing student leaders for a diverse and global society,'" said Jonathan Shar, executive vice president of BNED Retail and president of Barnes & Noble College. "UNG is an institution grounded in a student-focused environment, and we look forward to joining our new partner in delivering forward-thinking solutions that can help students succeed in the classroom and beyond."
