GAINESVILLE — Chestatee used an 11-run second inning to erase an early deficit in taking 19-12 win over Gainesville on Monday in girls softball action at Talon Field.
Lacie James drove in a five runs, Kaylin Thome four, and Makayla Hunt two as each had two hits apiece for the Lady War Eagles (3-5). The big inning gave Chestatee a 12-9 lead after the Lady Red Elephants had jumped out to a 9-1 lead scoring five runs in the first and four in the second.
Gainesville got the quick lead on five walks, a hit batter, and a RBI single by Kenya Jackson. After Chestatee plated one run in the bottom of the first, the Lady Red Elephants added four runs in the second on two more walks, a Chestatee error, and a pair of RBI singles for a 9-1 lead.
It didn't last long, however.
The Lady War Eagles scored all 11 runs with two out in the inning as 11 straight batters reached. Thome and and Hunt each had two-RBI hits in the frame. They increased their lead 17-10 after the fourth inning and held on from there.
Keyra Silva had two hits and tw RBI and Barbara Arredondo had a hit and two RBI for Gainesville.
