FLOWERY BRANCH — Cherokee Bluff held Chestatee to just 41 yards rushing and forced a pair of turnovers in taking a 60-21 win at Bears Stadium on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Sebastian Irons ran for two scores and threw for a pair of touchdowns to lead an offense that has scored 117 points (58.5 ppg) in the first two weeks.
Jayquan Smith gave the Bears (2-0) a quick lead with a 5-yard touchdown. After forcing a quick Chestatee punt, Irons connected with Max Eubanks on a 17-yard touchdown pass for a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Cherokee Bluff blew it open with 27 points in the second quarter. Brayden Nance scored on a 3-yard run, Irons added TD runs of 12- and 1-yard, and Irons hit Marlion Jackson on a 35-yard touchdown pass to give the Bears a 41-0 halftime lead.
Chestatee finally got on the board with a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to make it 41-7. The Bears got a 25-yard TD pass from Asher Wilson to Jordan Justice and then Justice added a 65-yard pick-6 on the War Eagles' next possession.
Chestatee later would get 67- and 49-yard TD passes from Luke Bornhorst.
Bornhorst finished with 231 yards passing for the War Eagles.
