MT. AIRY — Buford notched its first Region 8-6A win of the season with an 11-1 road victory in five innings over Habersham Central on Friday.
The Lady Wolves (7-1, 1-1 Region 8-6A) opened with a six-run first inning, started by a two-run single from Mackenzie Pickens. Buford extended it to 10-0 in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Pickens.
Habersham Central got its lone run in the bottom of the fourth.
Olivia Duncan got the win scattering three hits and striking out five.
Senior Taylor Malvin had two hits and one RBI and sophomore Adriana Martinez had a hit and an RBI for Buford.
The No. 1-ranked Lady Wolves travel to Class 7A No. 1 North Gwinnett on Monday in a non-region battle.
