A Cleveland woman has been convicted on one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of child molestation for crimes committed against a 14-year-old boy in 2019.

Brittany Elizabeth Hayes, 29, was convicted Wednesday by a Hall County jury, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s office. The three-day trial was presided over by Judge Jason Deal of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit.

On the third day of her trial, Hayes, who was out on bond, failed to appear in court. She was arrested early Thursday morning by the Gainesville Police Department on a bench warrant for failure to appear.

Hayes now faces new felony obstruction charges for violence committed against the arresting officers.

Sentencing for Hayes for the original charges is expected to take place Monday at 9 a.m.

Hayes is one of two suspects accused in an assault that took place at Mossy Creek State Park. Hayes and Timmy Allen Williamson, 39, were arrested at Hall County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters on July 1 of last year.
