Boys and Girls Club of Lanier awarded grant for new Habersham County clubs

The Boys & Girls Club of Lanier were awarded a $75,000 Opportunity Grant by the North Georgia Community Foundation.

The grant will help provide programming to eight new sites throughout Habersham County, according to a press statement issued Friday.

The Boys& Girls Club of Lanier already offers programming in Hall and Forsyth counties and recently expanded to Habersham County. BGCL now operates a total of 25 clubs.

“We are honored to receive this Opportunity Grant from NGCF that allows us to expand our programming.” said Boys & Girls Club of Lanier CEO Steve Mickens. “The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier in Habersham will help even more children on their path to success.”

The clubs include after school and summer time programs, providing a fun, safe, and positive environment for youth when school is out.

“We have seen what a vital role Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier plays in the lives of the children and families in our community. We are thrilled to provide the seed money for the expansion into eight Habersham County schools,” said NGCF President and CEO Michelle Prater. “Our Opportunity Grants program is designed to help nonprofits and organizations create or expand impactful programming. This is a great example of a nonprofit doing just that.”
