By AccessWDUN Staff

Wayne Farms is hosting a job fair Saturday, looking to add team members to their Pendergrass Fresh Processing Facility.

More than 200 positions are available, according to a press release from the company. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m., and include free food, activities, and on-the-spot job interviews.

Plant officials also want to showcase the company's compensation packages to applicants, which includes a $1,500 signing bonus, pay up to $17.50 an hour, medical and retirement plans, as well as other benefits.

Applicants who interview and are accepted positions will be eligible for immediate hire, said Wayne Farms Complex Manager Ron Rogers. "We're looking for people who want to join a solid, dependable company with good pay and advancement opportunities and we're having this event to get the word out," said Rogers.

Applicants are encouraged to bring the family and sample Wayne Farms chicken products from the Wayne Farms Food Truck while they investigate career opportunities. Kids games and activities will be on site, including a bounce house.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, masks will be provided and recommended CDC protocols will be in play, and attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and use personal protection equipment.

Wayne Farms LLC is the seventh-largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the U.S. with annual sales exceeding $2 billion, the company said. A subsidiary of Continental Grain Company, Wayne Farms owns and operates 11 fresh and further-processed facilities throughout the Southeast, produces more than 2.6 billion pounds of poultry products each year, and employs more than 9,000 individuals. They produce under the brand names of Wayne Farms fresh and prepared chicken, Platinum Harvest premium fresh chicken, Chef's Craft gourmet chicken, Naked Truth premium chicken and Ladybird premium chicken.
