Jake Garcia drove through the pack to score his first career Southern Super Series victory on Saturday night at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia.
The Monroe, Georgia racer put together a strong performance to record the home state win. After starting in the 14th position, Garcia picked his way forward during the feature, finally getting to the lead and going on to record the win.
The victory moves the 16-year-old to within eight points of series points leader Stephen Nasse, who leads the standings 378 points to Garcia’s 370 with two points paying races remaining on the schedule.
Garcia led an all Peach State top four across the finish line, with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Chandler Smith from Talking Rock, Georgia in second. Marietta, Georgia’s Corey Heim – a full time ARCA Menards Series competitor – finished in third after starting on the pole. Bubba Pollard from Senoia, Georgia followed in fourth. Daniel Dye finished in fifth.
Michael Atwell, Hunter Robins, Jett Noland, Jake Finch, and Marietta, Georgia’s Kyle Plott rounded out the top 10.
