Lumpkin County man arrested after agents find $25K worth of meth at his residence

A months-long drug investigation ended Monday with the arrest of a Lumpkin County man.

Lt. Alan Roach with the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office said deputies, along with agents from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and a K9 unit from the Georgia Department of Corrections, searched the residence off Summerour Road on Monday, Aug. 2. 

"During the search, investigators located approximately 1,600 grams of methamphetamines," Roach said in an email statement.

As a result, Jonathan Michael Whitehead, 25, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Roach estimated the street value of the illegal drugs at $25,000.
