A Jackson County woman was killed and three others were injured in a car crash Friday night on Highway 98.
Georgia State Patrol Corporal J.R. Dean said the crash happened around 6:00 p.m. and involved a Suzuki Vitara and a Ford Explorer.
The Suzuki, driven by Tonya Elaine Lester, 49, of Nicholson, struck the front of the Ford as it crossed over the centerline. Following the impact, the Ford traveled off the south shoulder of Highway 98 and overturned.
Lester was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Shortly after, she was pronounced dead.
The three occupants of the Ford, Jada Shanna Walmsley, 43, and Sadie Walmsley, 7, both of Comer and Nickole Nicholas Bloom, 67 of Colbert, were also transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but with non-life-threating injuries.
Dean said no charges are expected to be filed.
