Suspect in fatal Gwinnett County shooting arrested, hospitalized

The man believed to be responsible for Friday's deadly shooting in Duluth was arrested by Gwinnett County SWAT personnel on Saturday.

Rene Martinez, 30, was located after authorities received a tip that he was staying inside an apartment at the Landmark at Bella Vista, located on Satellite Blvd. in Duluth. 

The Gwinnett SWAT team was activated after the tip was received.

"The SWAT Team made entry to the apartment and found Rene with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Rene was transported to a local hospital," police said in an update on Saturday night. 

Martinez was described by the Gwinnett County Police Department as the primary suspect of interest in Friday's shooting, which left one man dead and two other men with at least one gunshot wound each. 

The victims in Friday's shooting were also identified in Saturday's update.

Omar Torres, 38, was found dead inside the apartment where the shooting took place.

Erick Torres, 27, had already been released from the hospital by the time the update was sent to local media.

The third victim, 22-year-old Jose Torres remained in intensive care at last report.

Martinez now faces charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Fire Arm during the Commission of a Felony.

At this time, the motive appears to be domestic related. 

One man was killed and two others wounded in a Friday night shooting in Duluth. 

The Gwinnett County Police Department said officers were called around 8:30 to a shooting report at an apartment on The Falls Parkway just off Satellite Boulevard.

When they arrived at the scene, they found one man dead from at least one gunshot wound. Two other men were also found suffering from at least one gunshot wound each in the same vicinity.  Both were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. 

Homicide detectives are currently investigating, and they are still working on the timeline of events that led up to the homicide.  There has not been a motive identified at this time.  The names of all parties are being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
