Piedmont University hosts back-to-campus concert on Aug. 7

By AccessWDUN staff

Piedmont University encourages the community back to campus by hosting a fun-filled evening of entertainment celebrating country music greats.

Real Deal Country with Katie Deal will be presented Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Arrendale Amphitheater in Demorest.

Deal and her five-piece Nashville band will feature songs made famous by Dolly Parton, Pasty Cline, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Linda Ronstadt, Reba McEntire and more.

An award-winning entertainer, Deal has performed to sold-out audiences across the U.S. and Canada. A Gainesville, Ga.-born artist and a Piedmont alumna, Deal is best known for her authentic country sound. She is the 2016 recipient of the Georgia Country Artist of the Year Award and an honored member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.

As a recording artist and singer-songwriter, Deal has written and/or performed with top Nashville songwriters, including Bruce Burch (Reba McEntire), Amanda Colleen Williams (Garth Brooks), Brandon Bush (Sugarland), and John Driskell Hopkins (Zac Brown Band). She has opened shows for such country legends as John Conlee, Sammy Kershaw, Collin Raye, B.J. Thomas, and Country Family Reunion (Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, T.G. Sheppard). Deal has performed with country icon Loretta Lynn and is also a frequent guest vocalist with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra.

Off the stage, Deal serves as the alumni director at Piedmont University.

Arrendale Amphitheater is an outdoor venue at 359 College Drive that seats up to 350. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair. The concert will be held rain or shine.

Nonrefundable tickets are $20 per person for general seating. Concessions will be available for purchase.
