United's Bello, Guzan, Robinson called up to USMNT CONCACAF Gold Cup

ATLANTA — George Bello, Brad Guzan and Miles Robinson have been called up to the United States Men’s National Team by manager Gregg Berhalter for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

All three players will depart Atlanta to join the group early next week. The United States begins group play July 11 against an opponent to be determined and will then face Martinique on July 15 and Canada on July 18. The knockout round of the tournament begins on July 24.

Bello made his senior USMNT debut against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31, 2021, coming on as a substitute. The 19-year-old left back has played or been called into camps for the U.S. Youth National Team at the U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-23 levels. Bello made 11 appearances at the U-17 level and was part of the U.S. squad at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup where he made two starts in Brazil.

Guzan will join the United States team for his fourth Gold Cup, winning the tournament in 2007 and 2017. He has been capped by the USMNT 64 times and was part of the squad at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, 2007, 2015 and 2017 Gold Cups, as well as the 2007 Copa America and 2016 Copa America Centenario, where he was the starting goalkeeper. Guzan was also the starting goalkeeper for the United States U-21 team in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  

Robinson has represented the U.S. at the U-20, U-23 and senior team level.  He has three caps and one goal with the USMNT, earning his senior team debut on Sept. 6, 2019 coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Mexico. He made his second appearance on Sept. 11, 2019 in a friendly against Uruguay. Robinson made his first start and scored his first international goal in a 7-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31, 2021.
