CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No. 17 Georgia Tech baseball’s run in the ACC Tournament came to an end in the semifinals as it fell 8-1 to No. 16 NC State on Saturday at Truist Field.
The Yellow Jackets (29-23) were held to just four hits on the night, with Luke Waddell having a hit and an RBI and Austin Wilhite smacking a double down the left field line. Kevin Parada and Stephen Reid also singled on the night.
On the mound, RHP Marquis Grissom, Jr. (1-2) received the loss after allowing four runs on three hits in 3.2 innings, striking out five on the night. LHP Luke Bartnicki had just one run on one hit allowed in 4.0 quick innings (48 pitches).
The Wolfpack (30-16) were led by Luca Tresh, who had a double and a home run. RHP Sam Highfill (6-2) got the win, surrendering just the one run on four hits in 6.1 innings.
No. 17 Georgia Tech will now wait to see which predetermined NCAA Regional host it will travel to. The ESPN Selection Show is scheduled for Monday, May 31 at noon on ESPN2.
