One person was hospitalized with unknown injuries after a small plane crashed in Barrow County late Saturday morning.
Barrow County Emergency Services started receiving 911 calls shortly after 11:30 a.m. that described a plane crash at Barrow Mini Warehouses, located on Atlanta Highway between Edgar Road and Giles Road.
“Upon arrival of firefighters, we found a small aircraft that was upside down beside one of the storage warehouses,” said Barrow County EMS Captain Scott Dakin. “The aircraft had hit the roof of the warehouse and flipped over, coming to a rest alongside the building. Firefighters also found two people had been in the aircraft at the time of the crash. One was transported to an area hospital.”
The identities of the two people inside the plane at the time of the crash have not been released.
The crash resulted in damage to the roof of the storage warehouse, and also caused fuel to start leaking from the aircraft.
"The fuel was contained to around the aircraft and was shut off to stop the leak," Dakin continued. "Working with the owner of the warehouse, the structure was assessed for structural damage."
No reason was given regarding a possible cause for the accident.
