The town of Braselton is developing its first even Public Art Master Plan and is seeking public input.
Anyone who lives, works, or invests in the town is encouraged to get involved by taking the Community Treasure Survey, submit an image or idea, or just contact the city with their thoughts.
The survey and contact information can be found on a new website, BraseltonPublicArt.com
The town has hired a design firm, Designing Local, to help them create and implement the Public Art Master Plan. Amanda Golden, managing principal for the firm, said they are also taking a less conventional approach to gathering input.
"We like to develop engagement opportunities that are not standard, so we're not developing something for people to come to the town buildings and put dots on a map," Golden said. "We really want to come to where the people are, and where people are already experiencing arts and culture."
The first stop is a concert June 26, Golden said.
Golden said citizens can also use the website to sign up for upcoming focus groups, or drop a pin on a Google map to share art they love, where they want to see art, or other items of significance.
The site also mentions the social, economic and cultural values of public art, sign ups for virtual focus groups, and a Google map where citizens can drop a pin on a location they feel is significant.
Golden said they will present a preliminary plan to the community in October, and then present the final plan to town officials in December.
