State golf: Area teams look for titles on the links

Northeast Georgia area golf teams and the rest of the state will shoot for state titles over the next two days as the Georgia High School Association golf championships get under way on Monday at various sites around the state.

The closest championship will be the Class 3A girls, which is being held at Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville.

The Gainesville boys qualified for the Class 7A finals. The Lady Red Elephants' Karina Collins qualified as an individual in Class 7A.

In Class 6A, the Buford boys qualified while the Lady Wolves' Kris Telenta qualified for the girls tournament as an individual.

Both the Jefferson boys and girls qualified for the Class 4A finals being held at the Unversity of Georgia Golf Course in Athens.

At Apple Mountain, the host White County girls and the North Hall girls both qualified and both are considered title contenders. In the Class 3A boys, Dawson County and North Hall both qualified as did White County's Jacob Adams as an individual.

The Rabun County boys advanced to the finals in Class 2A.

Both the Commerce boys and girls qualified in Class A Public.
