Gwinnett County mom's school board request goes viral

A Gwinnett County mother has gone viral after she address the mask mandate in schools to the Gwinnett County School Board last week.

Courtney Ann Taylor told the board at their April 15 meeting that "every one of us knows that young children are not affected this virus," according to Fox 5. She said it was doing more harm than good to keep kids in masks up for seven hours a day.

She also said her own 6-year-old daughter told her she didn't want to wear a mask anymore, and asked her to say something to the board.

"She looks at me every month before I come here and she says, 'are you going to tell them tonight? Tell them I don't want to wear this anymore.' And I say, 'baby, it's not time to fight that battle yet, I try to explain that there's so many things,' but it's April 15, 2021 and it's time. Take these masks off my child."

Taylor's comments were met with some applause according to the television station.

Taylor also said that the people of Gwinnett County didn't vote for the CDC, they voted for a school board that is supposed to decisions in children's best interests, and that she felt they were not acting in the children's best interest.
