BUFORD — The Buford boys dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Cambridge on Wednesday at Buford City Park to fall out of the Class 6A tournament.
James Troutt at No. 2 singles got a 6-3, 6-2 victory for the Wolves’ (13-5) only win as the Bears swept the doubles. Matthew Maurer at No. 3 singles fell in straight sets and the No. 2 doubles team of Grayson Gilbert and Brent Sherman also lost in straight sets.
Buford No. 1 singles and Region 8-6A Player of the Dean Kingsley was locked in a three-set duel when the deciding match at No. 1 doubles went to three sets.
The Wolves No. 1 team Leyton Grothe and Nic Keller lost the first set 6-2 but battled back to take the second set 6-2 and send it to a third. But the Bears’ Grayson Pelletier and Henry Wood closed out the match 6-3 and send Cambridge into the quarterfinals.
