Brandon Overton pocketed a cool $5,053 payday on Friday night in the rain delayed Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series race at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee.
The Evans, Georgia racer powered from his 10th stating spot in the 53 lap feature to take the lead from fellow Georgian Dale McDowell on lap 23 in heavy lap traffic.
From there, Overton kept the field behind him the rest of the way to score the win in the series’ first visit to the newly reconfigured 3/8-mile clay oval.
It marks the fourth career series victory for Overton.
Michael Page finished in second, with McDowell in third, Cory Hedgecock in fourth and Tyler Millwood in fifth.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series will be back in action on Friday, April 23 at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina, followed by a trip on Saturday, April 24 to Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tennessee.
