JEFFERSON — Malaki Starks is a Georgia Bulldog.
The Nation’s No. 2 athlete in the Class of 2022 made his choice Thursday evening at Jefferson High School.
Starks said he knew two weeks ago where he was going, and when he made his decision official, the room erupted with cheers and dog barks.
“I wanted to pick a school where I was going to go and be me, where I could compete and had that family feeling,” he said. “It was a hard decision. These are the top schools in the nation. I’m excited for the next three or four years after high school.”
Starks joins fellow Northeast Georgia athlete Gunner Stockton in Georgia’s Class of 2022 recruiting class.
Georgia’s Class of 2022 is currently second in the UGASports.com national rankings, behind Ohio State.
Starks has been a do-it-all athlete at Jefferson and last season led the Dragons to the Class 4A state title game before losing to Marist. Starks was 20-for-48 passing with 569 yards and 11 touchdowns and was the team’s top rusher and scorer with 172 carries for 1,537 yards and 24 scores.
