UGA student from Toccoa killed in Athens hit-and-run

A University of Georgia student from Toccoa was killed early Sunday morning after he was struck by a vehicle in Athens.

According to a press release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Knox Whiten, 21, was struck by an unknown vehicle around 2:00 a.m. on the GA Outer 10 Loop near Chase Street.

Knox died because of injuries sustained in the accident.

This is the eighth fatal motor vehicle crash of 2021 in Athens-Clarke County.
