By AccessWDUN Staff

ATLANTA — Johnson goalkeeper Steven Flores made an outstanding block in the penalty kick phase to preserve a 3-2 win for the Knights over Cross Keys on Friday in a battle of Class 5A ranked teams.

The Knights (8-2-1) came in ranked sixth and ran their win streak to seven straight. Third-ranked Cross Keys (7-3) saw its two-game win streak snapped with the loss.

Johnson outlasted Cross Keys 5-4 in the PK round, with Angel  Sagrero, Eliam Chavez, Andres Galicia, Kevin Castillo, and Abraham Gomez all finding the net.

Flores sealed the win with his stop in the sixth round.

Castillo gave Johnson the first lead with a goal midway through the first half but Cross Keys tied it up  1-1 moments later. Jorge Sandoval gave the Knights a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal just before the break.

It remained that way until the final minute of regulation when Cross Keys tied it at 2 on a free kick with less than 30 seconds left.

Johnson will jump back into Region 8-5A action on Tuesday playing host to Loganville.
