By B.J. Williams

A Hall County Jail inmate who escaped from a work detail on jail property a month ago was arrested in Tennessee late last week.

According to information released by the Hall County Sheriff's Department, David Daniel Morgan, 37, of Gainesville is back in the custody of Hall County authorities. Deputies retrieved him Saturday from Hamilton County, Tennessee. He was arrested Thursday, March 11 by the U.S. Marshal's Service and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office at a residence in Hamilton County. A spokesman for the sheriff's office in Hamilton County indicated an arrest report would not be available right away. He also declined an interview to discuss details of the arrest.

Morgan left his work assignment at the Hall County Jail around 8:45 a.m. on Friday, February 12. He got into a waiting SUV and had not been seen until his arrest last week. At the time Morgan escaped, he was serving time for a felony theft by taking charge, two misdemeanor charges of theft by deception and a charge of failure to appear. Morgan has now been charged with felony escape. He is being held without bond.

At this point, no one else has been charged.
