DACLUA — The Buford tennis teams got their second straight Region 8-6A sweep on Thursday against Dacula.
The Buford boys took an impressive 5-0 win while the girls won 4-1 as both teams remained unbeaten in region play.
The boys (5-4, 2-0 Region 8-6A) dropped just three games as Dean Kingsley and James Troutt both won 6-0, 6-0 and Matthew Maurer got a 6-0, 6-2 wins in singles..
The No. 1 doubles team of Luke Clark and Nic Keller won 6-0, 6-0 while the No. 2 team of Brent Sherman and Grayson Gilbert took a 6-0, 6-1 win.
For the Lady Wolves (6-3, 3-0 Region 8-6A) they swept the doubles behind Kennedy Deloach and Kylie McCammon (No. 1) who won 6-3, 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Taylor Ryzcek and Marigrace Crossett, which took a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Callie Perkins took a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and Izzy Brewer won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Taylor Aycock dropped a tough 6-3, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday in Lagrange taking on Roswell in the first round of the Granger Invitational.
FLOWERY BRANCH SWEEPS CHESTATEE IN REGION 8-4A
The Branch took a pair of impressive region wins over Chestatee on Thursday at the Flowery Branch Courts.
In the boys match, the Falcons dropped just five games. Will Hernandez and Jack Thomas took 6-0, 6-0 wins over Jacob Funk and Riley Tucker at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. Caden Caldwell got a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jack Tucker at No. 3.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Grant Anglin and Santino Sengson beat Will Brooksher and Tristen Martin 6-3, 6-0 and the No. 2 team of Josh Warren and Mason Foreman won 6-1, 6-0 over Brice Dickson and Kevin Payne.
The Lady Falcons (7-3, 4-0 Region 8-4A) dropped just three games.
In singles, Branch’s Alyssa McSpadden, Sandra Hernandez, and Julianna Velaj all took 6-0, 6-0 wins over Chestatee’s Sarah Emrey, Reese Kelly, and Bell Ritchie.
In the doubles, the No. 1 team of Madison Sedwick and Savannah Regnier beat Sophie Reed and Bowen Corely 6-0, 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Richney Nguyen and Haley Bursinger beat Madison Bowdle and Hannah Allgood won 6-1, 6-1.
