Manhunt underway for a dangerous fugitive in Lumpkin County

A massive manhunt is underway for a fugitive last seen in Lumpkin County. According to Sheriff Stacy Jarrard, the man is wanted on drug trafficking charges in at least four different counties. He has been tracked to the area between Auraria Rd. and 136 on the Dawson/Lumpkin County line.

Dylan Finley has been on the run since yesterday when he fled from authorities first in Franklin County. Then, today Lumpkin County authorities spotted him and he dodged them yet again. This began the massive manhunt, including a search from the air by Georgia State Patrol helicopters.

Now Jarrard says man-tracking K9s are combing the woods in an attempt to find him. “He has apparently been in and out of prison and he has made some comments to family members and friends that he does not want to go back to prison. When someone makes those kind of comments, you worry about their mental stability. I would consider him dangerous,” says Jarrard. He adds that he could possibly be armed. In a statement on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, he advised all area residents to lock their doors – to both their cars and their homes. He also says to be aware that he could be hiding in a shed or outbuilding.

Finley is described as a white male approximately 6ft tall, with short hair or possibly bald, and wearing a gray or white t-shirt and blue jeans.

According to Jarrard, he faces felony drug charges in Lumpkin County but is also wanted in Franklin, Hart and Madison Counties.

Assisting with the search is the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

Anyone with any information should not attempt to approach him but call 911 immediately.
