OAKWOOD — Jackson County moved into a tie for second place in Region 8-5A after taking a 6-1 win over Johnson on Wednesday.
It was the second straight win for the Lady Panthers (5-3, 2-1 Region 8-5A) on consecutive days, both in region play.
It was the region opener for the Lady Knights (1-6, 0-1 Region 8-5A) who are just 0-3-1 in their last four matches.
The Lady Panthers got two goals each from Lindsey Fowler and Serenity Castillo with Kassidy Gross and Kennedy Habeeb notching one goal apiece.
Johnson's only goal came from Aaliyah Godina on an assist by Kaelin Higginbotham on a a long free kick.
Jackson County will play host to cross-county rival East Jackson on Thursday in a non-region battle.
Johnson will play host to Greenbrier on Friday in another region matchup.
