Girls soccer roundup: Lady Lions knocked off No. 6 Lumpkin; Lady Bears roll in region opener

GAINESVILLE — The Lakeview Academy girls soccer team looked impressive in taking an 8-2 win over Class 3A No. 6 Lumpkin County on Tuesday at home.

The Lady Lions (4-2) have won four straight, all against higher classification teams.

Sara Nivens and Millie Filson each recorded hat tricks while McKenna Filson and Hannah Perkins both scored one goal for Lakeview. Pavani Reddy, Lauren Scott, and Annie Nivens recorded assists.

Celia Wilson-Patino had 14 saves in goal for the Lady Lions.

Nicole Limehouse scored both of Lumpkin County's goals.  

Lakeview Academy continues a tough stretch playing host to Class 3A No. 2 White County (5-2) on Friday.

Lumpkin County fell to 4-3 and had its two-match win streak stopped.

The Class 3A eighth-ranked Lady Bears ran their win streak to five straight, all by shutout, in both teams’ Region 7-3A openers.

Amelia Dovie and Kaitlin Cook each recorded a hat trick and both added a pair of assists for Cherokee Bluff (5-2-0, 1-0 Region 7-3A), which has outscored its opposition 39-0 during its win streak.

Carson DeMars had two goals and one assist, Alyssa Stringer had a goal and an assist, and Paige Wheat had an assist for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Spartans fell to 0-4-1, 0-1 in Region 7-3A on the season.
