Payton Freeman nabs Limited Late Model win at Lavonia

Payton Freeman kicked off the 2021 North Georgia racing season with a victory in Sunday’s Spring Nationals Southeastern Limited Late Model feature at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway.

The Commerce, Georgia speedster drove to the lead and never looked back en route to the victory at the 3/8-mile clay speedway.

Drew Collins followed in second, with Shun Thomas in third, Kenny Collins in fourth and Frankie Beard in fifth.

Dale Timms, Lucas Ruark, Blake Craft, Jim Gray and Nick Deitz rounded out the top 10.

In other action over the two-day race weekend, David Smith beat out David McCoy to win the 602 Crate Late Model feature. Royce Bray crossed the line in third, with Trae Kirk in fourth and Blake Craft in fifth.

Dylan Cole was flagged the winner in the 602 Charger feature, only to see the victory go away when he was disqualified after his car failed in post-race tech inspection.

That gave Coletrain Palmer the win, with Tucker Anderson in second, Keaton Smith in third, Mason Russell in fourth and Blake Broome in fifth.

Michael Segars topped the Modified Street feature for the victory. Chris Cape followed in second, with Allen Rich in third, Chad Puckett in fourth and Sterling Helm in fifth.

Stephen Pedulla was the winner in the Mid-East Modifieds feature. Chris Stowe, Jeff Parsons, Dean Noseworthy and Andrew Durham rounded out the top five.

Chad Puckett edged out Jimmy Johnson for the win in the Stock 8 feature. Chance Segars finished in third, with Rocky Jones in fourth and Luke Fox in fifth.

Harley Holden scored the victory in the MMSA Stock 4 feature, with Matt Gilbert in second, Travis Mosley in third, Terry Caples in fourth and Austin Brown in fifth.

Derrick Duggan was the first under the checkered flag for the Southern Mod4 Mini Association victory. John Smartt came home in second, with Shane Workman in third, Dan Benson in fourth and Nathan Davis in fifth.

Ryan Brown led wire-to-wire to win the Sharp Mini Late Model feature, with Tyler Keel, Jody Sparks, Brad Amerson and Cody Taylor rounding out the top five.

The Young Guns feature came down to a heart stopping finish, as the Madison Holden, Hannah Wall and Hunter Childress getting together as they faced under the checkered flag. Holden got the win, with Wall second and Childress third. Bryson Briscoe finished fourth, with Koltin Bryant in fifth.

Wayne Taylor dominated the Front Wheel Drive feature to take home the victory, with Tony Stevens second, Justin Harris third, Eddie Segars fourth and James Coggins fifth.

Chris Harvell was flagged the winner in the Georgia Enduros feature, but failed post-race tech, giving the victory to Noe Zunigh, with Scott Willoughby in second, David Dobbs in third, Chance Henson in fourth and Hunter Carey in fifth.
