More than a dozen northeast Georgia area soccer teams find themselves ranked in top 10 in the latest Eurosports.com poll heading into a critical day on Tuesday on the pitch.
A dozen of those teams will face region contests as well, including the Class A Public No. 1-ranked Commerce girls and the Class 3A second-ranked White County girls.
The Lady Tigers (5-0-0) will play host to No. 10 Towns County (0-1-0) in both teams' Region 8-A opener. The Towns County boys are ranked fifth and take on the Commerce boys as well.
The Lady Warriors (6-1-0) play host to Dawson County (0-7-0) in Region 7-3A. The White County boys are ranked sixth and also take on Dawson County.
In Class 6A, the Buford girls (6-0-1) are ranked third and will travel to Dacula in Region 8-6A. In Class 5A, the Johnson boys (2-2-1) are ninth and will play host to Jackson County (4-1-1) at The Dungeon.
In Class 4A, Region 8-4A has six teams, boys and girls, ranked in the top eight. The second-ranked Flowery Branch boys and third-ranked Lady Falcons are off until Friday. The fourth-ranked Jefferson girls (5-0-0) and the sixth-ranked Jefferson boys (4-1-0) both play host to Cedar Shoals in region play. The East Hall boys (4-1-1) are ranked eighth and will travel to Madison County in region play while the fourth-ranked Chestatee boys (4-1-0) entertain North Hall in a non-region battle.
Also in Region 7-3A, the Lumpkin County girls (4-2-0) are ranked sixth and travel to Lakeview Academy (3-2-0) in a non-region match. The Cherokee Bluff girls (4-2-1) are eighth and play host to West Hall (0-3-1) in both teams' region openers. The West Hall boys (3-2-0) are eighth and take on the Bears (2-4-1) in the late game.
