It's safe to say that at 100-1 odds, it's unlikely many people had Michael McDowell on their short list to pull into victory lane at the end of Sunday's Daytona 500.
But it's also safe to say that there were few people unhappy to see the journeyman driver score his first win NASCAR's biggest race.
On this week's podcast, our Hard Left Turn crew breaks down the 63rd running of the "Great American Race", including:
-McDowell shot the gap when teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski crashed with less than half a lap to go, and came home with the win in the Daytona 500.
-Was the crash between Logano and Keselowski anyones fault, or was it just a product of superspeedway racing?
-While Denny Hamlin dominated much of the event, the turning point came on the final round of green flag pit stops thanks to the strategy employed by the Ford teams.
-In a case of being too agressive too early, a lap 14 crash eliminated several of the pre-race favorites.
-In their first outing, the 23XI team with driver Bubba Wallace proved to have one of the strongest cars on the premises.
