Cleveland P.D. announces robbery arrests

Two Gainesville residents are among three people charged in a Jan. 20 robbery of an individual at a Cleveland hotel.

The incident happened about 6 a.m. Jan. 20. at Knights Inn, 244 South Main Street, according to Cleveland police.

When officers arrived, they learned that Jessica Neal and Dustin Waycaster, both of Gainesville, had been in a motel room with James Grant when a third unknown suspect came to the room to pick up Neal and Wacaster.

“Upon the arrival of the third person, all of the persons and Mr. Grant got into an argument and then an altercation,” said Lt. Donna Sims. “During the altercation, Mr. Grant was robbed of his money, car keys, and wallet. The people all left the motel with Mr. Grant's items.”

Officers were able to identify the other man involved as John Flanagan IV of Dahlonega.

Flanagan, Neal and Waycaster all face charges of robbery and theft by taking, Sims said.

Flanagan and Waycaster were arrested in White County, while Neal was arrested by Gainesville police and is being held in the Hall County Detention Center.

In Gainesville, Neal is charged with hit and run, fleeing with intent to elude, and following too closely in connection with a Jan. 28 incident, said Gainesville P.D. Cpl. Jessica Van.

Information in the case was withheld during the ongoing investigation and until all parties were identified and charged, Sims said.
