Faith Townsend, a senior at Johnson High School, has been selected as a 2021 United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Delegate for Georgia.

USSYP delegates are awarded a $10,000 college scholarship and get the chance to attend Washington Week, an intensive online leadership program involving senators, the president, Supreme Court justices and other policymakers. Two students from each state are chosen to be delegates for the program after a rigorous nomination process that includes essays, tests and interviews.

Townsend is a full IB Diploma senior, JHS National Honor Society President and a candidate for the U.S. Naval Academy.

“Above all else, I am a patriot,” Townsend wrote in her application essay. “If I am placed in an environment that strips away everything but my life and almost nothing is left of me, patriotism will remain. I will proudly love this country and her Constitution and sacrifice whatever she asks of me against any formidable opposition for the remainder of my life.”
