Former Forsyth County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested for sexual involvement with inmate

A former Forsyth County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation following an investigation into allegations that they were sexually involved with a Forsyth County inmate in 2015.

According to a press release from the GBI, 34-year-old Nicholas Maddox of Dawsonville was arrested for Sexual Assault by a Person of Supervisory or Disciplinary Authority. Maddox was booked by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and is now out on bond.

On May 26, 2020, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office requested that the GBI investigate the allegations. Maddox worked at the jail in 2015 when the incident reportedly occured. Maddox was charged in the case because of the investigation, according to the release.

The release states the case will be provided to the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution once the investigation is completed.
