Second Lambert High student arrested for making threat against school

A student from Lambert High School in Forsyth County was arrested Thursday for allegedly planning to carry out an attack at the school, the second such arrest at Lambert in a week.

Following an investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, a 15-year-old student was charged with terroristic threats. He was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville.

Official learned of the threat after some students told school employees that the suspect had tried to get a gun from another student so he could harm students at the school.

“Thanks to the actions of a few students, a potential tragedy was avoided," Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a news release. " These students had the courage to come forward and report this danger to the staff at the school. … Kudos to the Lambert High School staff for their quick action and assistance in this investigation.  No other students were involved in this threat and the danger from it has been eliminated.”

Last week, A 16-year-old junior at Lambert was arrested after he allegedly sent a threatening email to Principal Gary Davison. The Forsyth County School Resource Deputies and Major Crimes Unit quickly identified the suspect and removed him from class after learning about the email.

He was also charged with terroristic threats and taken to the RYDC in Gainesville.

Threats against schools have increased in recent weeks. And a vague threat circulating on the social media platform TikTok and warns of school shootings and other violence at schools today. The origins of the threat were unclear. No specific schools were mentioned, and law enforcement officials have said they've seen no credible threats related to the social media posts.
