One man arrested after a Jackson County drug bust

A Nicholson man has been arrested after deputies found drugs, a stolen weapon, and large amounts of cash at his home.

The search took place last Thursday at the home on Wages Bridge Rd. after a warrant was issued. Inside the home, deputies found nearly $7,000 worth of drugs and almost $17,000 worth of cash. According to information just released from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), approximately 25 grams of crack cocaine was found inside the residence, along with one and a half pounds of marijuana. Authorities also found two weapons; one of those guns was stolen out of Athens-Clarke County.

The resident, Gary Harper, age 44, was arrested. He has been charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft by receiving a stolen firearm, and tampering with evidence.

The agencies involved in the search warrant include The Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and ARDEO.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.
