Region 7-3A joins Region 6-7A in opening up its schedule full-bore on Tuesday as all eight schools, including newcomer East Forsyth, offer four huge matchups on both boys and girls.
The most intriguing matchup may be the Class 3A No. 1 Lumpkin County girls playing host to East Forsyth. The Lady Indians (4-1, 0-0 Region 7-3A) have been rolling early and Lady Broncos (5-1, 0-0 Region 7-3A) are not playing like a first-year program to this point.
Another huge opening matchup will have the Cherokee Bluff (2-1, 0-0 Region 7-3A) boys traveling to North Hall (5-1, 0-0 Region 7-3A). The Trojans are off to one of their better starts in several years while the Bears were among the preseason favorites in the region. And, the West Hall boys (2-3, 0-0 Region 7-3A) head to undefeated Gilmer (6-0, 0-0 Region 7-3A). The Spartans have shown marked improvement after a winless campaign last season.
Gainesville and North Forsyth also are back in action in Region 6-7A. Both Gainesville teams head to Forsyth Central looking for their first region wins of the season. North Forsyth plays host to Lambert.
Also on Tuesday, Banks County and East Hall will close out their annual two-game rivalry matchups in Valhalla.
The Class 6A No. 3-ranked Buford girls will play host to Class A Private No. 1-ranked Holy Innocents’ at The Buford Arena.
