The Georgia State Patrol investigated 20 fatal traffic accidents over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, including one in Towns County Friday night.
Troopers with Post 27 in Blue Ridge were called to the scene of the crash on Georgia 2 just east of Upper Hightower Overlook at 11:18 p.m.
They said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado - identified as Antonio Paramo Chavez, 65, of Clayton - lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the north shoulder of the highway. The truck then overturned down an embankment and Chavez was ejected from the vehicle; he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. No one else was involved.
