Brandon Overton scores Gobbler victory at Cochran

By Track PR

Brandon Overton put a bow on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend on Saturday night with a home state victory in the fourth annual Gobbler 50 at Georgia’s Cochran Motor Speedway.

The win at the 3/8-mile clay raceway was worth a $21,000 payday for the Evans, Georgia speedster.

Pole sitter Austin Kirkpatrick jumped out to the early lead in the 50 lap feature. Overton, who started in second, quickly moved to the runner-up spot and began working on Kirkpatrick for the top spot.

Just before reaching the 10 lap mark, Overton bypassed Kirkpatrick to take the lead while the pack battled behind him for position. Overton mostly went unchallenged for the rest of the feature, although Mark Whitener did mount an attack around the halfway point.

From there, Overton pulled away to score the win. Kirkpatrick finished in second, with Scott Bloomquist in third, Parson Lee Williams in fourth and Dalton Cook in fifth.

Garrett Smith, Blake Spencer, Whitener, Jimmy Sharpe, Jr., and Colton Flinner rounded out the top 10.
