Girls basketball: Gaither leads Cherokee Bluff past Commerce; Chestatee wins

Timber Gaither scored 19 points to lead Cherokee Bluff to the season-opening win over Commerce, 49-38, on the road Thursday. 

Taliah Gaither scored nine points and pulled four rebounds, and Kaitlin Cook chipped eight points, four rebounds and three steals in the Lady Bears (1-0) win.

JOHNSON 18

Riley Black scored 14 points, and Bowen Corley had 11 to lead the Lady War Eagles (2-0) past Johnson (1-1) on Thursday in Oakwood.

Black also snagged eight steals. Addison Boyd knocked down nine points, and Riley Allison dished out four assists and swiped four steals.
